Agnes Hall, near Bridlington, from now until Monday December 23 Simon and Olivia CunliffeLister decorate their Elizabethan home to create a wonderland with traditional and contemporary handmade decorations. Young visitors are encouraged to find homemade felt snowman dolls, hidden in each room. Christmas-light-strewn topiary bushes, the Great Hall’s fire glowing warmly and twinkling lights throughout.
Visitors can visit the courtyard, enjoying festive treats in the café.
Little ones can also visit Father Christmas in his courtyard grotto every Christmas opening weekend Admission charges.
A Christmas Masquerade 2Castle
Howard from now until to Sunday January 5 Experience the magnificent decorations as you journey through the house’s grand state rooms. Open fires, candle light and live music 25ft traditional Christmas tree adorned with over 3,000 baubles providing a breathtaking highlight in the Great Hall.
The theme is A Christmas Masquerade and includes displays and installationsto celebrates the house’s theatrical roots and the influence of the Italian Baroque on its architecture and interiors.
Among the decorations and costumes, a troupe of travelling players prepare festive entertainments for the guests. Admission charges apply

Scarborough, Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30 The train will be covered in lights and installations for an after-dark glittering transformation of the line. Regular trains will be departing from Peasholm Station where you’ll take a ride to Scalby Mills and back while enjoying the wonderful lighting display from your carriage. Before heading back on the return journey from Scalby Mills you’ll have the opportunity to disembark and take photographs from the platform, you will then return to Peasholm Station to experience the spectacle from a different direction. First train: 4.30pm from Peasholm Park
Then every 30 minutes from Peasholm Park.
Last Train departs Peasholm: 9.30pm

A Christmas Carol 6
Scarborough Market Hall and Vaults, Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, daily at 7.30pm and 10pm Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
On Christmas Eve, the most magical night of the year, the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is whisked away on a terrifying journey through the past and into the future, accompanied by three ghosts determined to make him realise the true meaning of Christmas. As Scrooge’s frozen heart begins to melt, he finally embraces the festive spirit in this most Christmassy of Christmas tales. Theatre, St Thomas Street, Scarborough, Friday November 29 and Sunday November 30 at 7.30pm and Sunday December 1 at 2pm Entertainers new and old at the YMCA Theatre come together to present Christmas Cracker – a festive variety show for all the family. Filled with music, song, dance and comedy, the show promises to make you smile, cry and laugh.

Open Air Theatre from Friday December 29 to Sunday December 1 Christmas themed shopping and entertainment weekend includes festive stalls, food and drink, a synthetic ice rink, festive musical performances from a variety of choirs and bands, illuminated fairground rides and the Yorkshire Coast Radio roadshow. Children will also have the chance to meet Anna, Elsa, Olaf and the Grinch. Entry to the event is free although charges will apply for the illuminated fairground rides and ice skating.
The ice skating will be £5 per person for a 20-minutes session. Organisers recommend pre-booking on 01723 818111.
The weekend’s entertainment will start at 5.30pm on the Friday with a moonlight and song parade across the road in Peasholm Park.
Two free Scarborough Sparkle Shoreline Suncruiser buses will be in operation.
Free event 9Bridlington All Shades of Soul
Spa, Saturday November 30 from 8pm to 1am Classic soul and Motown night.
The DJs have been chosen to keep the floor busy and moving to those sweet soul sounds from the 1960s,70s and 80s, with the hits of Motown, Stax, Atlantic and Philadelphia International labels providing the soundtrack.

1North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering and Grosmont, November 30 and Sunday December 1; Saturday December 7 and Sunday December 8; Saturday December 14 and Sunday December 15 and Saturday December 21 and Sunday December 22 Departing from Pickering and Grosmont Stations, the Santa Express brings Christmas to life and gives children the chance to meet Santa on board the train. They will be able to tell him what they would like to open on Christmas morning. Admission charges apply
