Volunteers making scrubs need materials
Busy volunteers making protective clothing for Scarborough’s health care workers are in need of more materials. Scarborough Scrubs Makers – For The Love Of Scrubs are looking for elastic and pipe cleaners to make face masks for hospital and care home staff.
The group, which was formed on Facebook, now has more than 300 members who have so far made around 750 sets of scrubs.
The army of tailors have got together via Facebook in a bid to ensure local hospital staff, GPs and care workers have the clothing they need.
The volunteers have also provided more than 1,000 wash bags, at least 70 hats and 200 masks.
They have been using all sorts of material – from duvet covers to curtains.
But in order to continue making more face masks, the group are making an appeal for 5mm-wide elastic and pipe cleaners.
