World run total tops £2,000

Schoolchildren across the Yorkshire Coast are halfway through a charity challenge to run around the world.

Starting at the beginning of this month, all 24 schools which are part of Ebor Academy Trust, including Filey Ebor Academy, Filey Nursery and Infants School and Braeburn in Scarborough, set off to run, walk, cycle or wheel the 40,000 kilometres across the planet.

They have collectively travelled more than 21,000km – the distance from here to Fiji.

“We’ve got to maintain momentum and try to encourage others if we are to succeed,” said Ebor’s chief executive Gail Brown, who has contributed thousands of metres.
