Pitch Perfect 3

Channel 4, 9pm, Saturday

After a rollicking reunion in the effervescent 2015 sequel Pitch Perfect 2, the delightfully-dysfunctional a cappella champions The Barden Bellas are back together for a teary-eyed farewell tour in this third outing of the musical comedy franchise. Following their win at the world championship, the Bellas have split up, only to discover there are very few job prospects for singing unaccompanied. So, when the chance comes to reunite for one last competition as part of an overseas tour entertaining the troops, they jump at the chance – only to discover they are up against real bands with real instruments. Anna McKendrick holds things together as usual as the Bellas’ leader Beca, with Rebel Wilson getting all the best lines as Fat Amy, while Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins are back to comment on the musical action in their own, deadpan way.

STREAMING

Little Fires Everywhere Prime Video, available now

Like Oprah Winfrey and Richard and Judy, Reese Witherspoon has her own book club. Every month, she chooses a tome for its members to read and discuss, and each one has to have a female character at its heart. In September 2017, she promoted Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Her production company, Hello Sunshine (which was also behind Witherspoon’s previous TV hit Big Little Lies), snapped up the rights to turn the novel into a series – and this is the result. The plot focuses on the Richardson family and the enigmatic mother and daughter who throw its members’ lives into disarray. Race, belonging, motherhood and liberalism are all covered in a thoughtprovoking psychological thriller.

Killing Eve

BBC One, 9.15pm, Sunday

It’s been quite an eventful ride so far this series, what with the shocking deaths of two lead characters, the introduction of the devilmay-care Dasha (played with relish by Harriet Walter) and, of course, a series of inventive murders by Villanelle. But then this series simply wouldn’t be the same without Jodie Comer’s assassin going about her business with a smile on her face. As awful as it is, that’s why people seem to love the show so much. This week, Villanelle decides she has had enough and decides on a different path. Could she be giving up her murderous ways once and for all?
