1 BBC RADIO 1 BIG WEEKEND

May 22 to 24

The annual extravagan­za will go ahead this weekend as planned, but with a crucial difference ... it will take place remotely for the first time. Big Weekend UK 2020 promises to bring all the festival feels with more than 50 brand new live sets recorded by artists from their own homes, as well as bringing back some of the most memorable performanc­es from Big Weekends gone by for fans to listen to Radio 1 and BBC Sounds, and watch on BBC iPlayer. Performanc­es will take place across five virtual stages. Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Young T and Bugsey, Anne Marie and Biffy Clyro line up on the Radio 1 Stage, while The Headliner Stage will throwback to some of the biggest headline sets from previous Big Weekends, including Katy Perry’s set at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow and Miley Cyrus’ stormer from Middlesbro­ugh.

2 MADE IN MANCHESTER PRESENTS ACOUSTIC LOCKDOWN LIVE - THE BEST OF THE NORTHWEST

The Made In Manchester Festival presents a talented acoustic line up, including The Jade Assembly, Jordan Allen and Our Fold. Tickets cost £5, with profits going to NHS charities.

3 NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT

May 25

It’s an American institutio­n - and the lockdown presents a chance for more people around the world to experience the moving event online. The National Memorial Day Concert features uplifting musical performanc­es, documentar­y footage and dramatic readings that honour the military service of American men and

women in uniform and their families at home.

4 IMOGEN HEAP

The Ivor Novello-winning producer, writer, singer and multi-instrument­alist performs from her home as part of the Royal Albert Hall’s online presentati­ons. Imogen won a Grammy for her work with Taylor Swift and was Grammy nominated as composer and arranger for acclaimed West End musical Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

5 CLINT BOON’S DISCO RESCUE

May 29

What a way to round off the week. Some 19 years ago, the much-loved Inspiral Carpets keyboardis­t and sometime singer launched a weekly residency at South Nightclub in Manchester. He called it ‘Disco Rescue’. While the club remains closed, Clint is streaming DJ sets from his home studio every week.
