This Scarborough couple have been recreating their favourite film and TV shows to keep people laughing during lockdown.

Using props from around their town centre home, actors Jamie Honeybourne and Alan Gibbons have been staging popular scenes and homages to all sorts of well-known movies and programmes, from Sex and the City to Gogglebox.

Their ‘Isolation Creations’ have been proving a hit on their social media platforms, attracting a growing following.

Jamie said: “We just wanted to do something creative for us which can help to cheer people up who might be going through tough times.”

Both Jamie, a professional speaker, and Alan, an actor and comedian, lost their work bookings when coronavirus restrictions came into place.

“Making people happier is what we do,” said Jamie.

“Both of us are so used to using our creativity to make people laugh or feel better about themselves and so we thought let’s try and do that.

“A friend had pointed us to a group on Facebook called ‘Recreate Artworks With Things You Find at Home’ and so we decided we could try and recreate a famous scene from a movie or TV show to cheer up our friends.”

The pair have accounts on Instagram and Facebook which are achieving more than 2,000 hits a day.

They have some props and costumes left over from when they ran a theatre company in London but they have had to be resourceful for most scenes.

“Alan is the creative brains behind the creations,” said Jamie.

“I am always amazed by what he can do with one of our curtains, a few bulldog clips and a roll of gaffer tape!

“The technical side is mine – setting up the camera, editing the videos, getting everything online. It’s a real team effort.

“To be honest it is fantastic for us both to have something every day which gets us up and about.

“Every day we are active, creative and collaborative, and there hasn’t been a single day since we started doing this that hasn’t involved lots of laughter, which helps!”

The couple have been overwhelmed by the response to their creations and are considering using them to create a 2021 calendar for charity.
