Virtual open day at CU Scarborough for prospective students
CU Scarborough, part of the Coventry University Group, is to host its first virtual open day for prospective students.
The online event is set to take place on June 23 from 3pmto6pmandwillgivepeople an insight into studying at the university from the safety of their homes.
Prospective students will be given an introduction to life as a student at CU Scarborough by head of academic studies Mathew Butterworth before being able to listen to presentations on topics such as admissions, student accommodation and student support.
There will also be live chats giving people the chance to experience time with tutors, as well as a campus tour video giving people a look around the site.
Steven Knowles, regional recruitment manager at CU Scarborough, said that the online event is designed to mirror open days held on site as closely as possible, while ensuring that social distancing measures are adhered to.
He said: “Since the lockdown began we have had to adopt completely new ways of working, and this has extended to our open days.
“Our very first virtual open day will provide prospective students with all of the information they would receive at an event held on campus, but from the safety of their homes.
“Attendees will arrive into a virtual reception area where they will be directed to the different talks and presentations that are taking place.
“They will be able to find out about student life in Scarborough, the courses that we offer and also watch a video tour of the building.
“Staff and tutors will be on-hand to answer any questions, and there will also be virtual lounges where they can network with other prospective students and speak to some of our current students about their experiences at CU Scarborough.”
Registration for the event is now open, and people can sign up by visiting www.coventry.ac.uk/cus/open-days
