Lenox Hill

Netflix, from June 10

Here’s a shock for you – Netflix is releasing a new documentary series, but it isn’t true crime-related. Instead, it’s a rather timely project that takes viewers inside Lenox Hill Hospital in New York as it follows the professional lives of four of the institution’s doctors – two are brain surgeons, one is an ER specialist and the other is the chief resident in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. Directors Adi Barash and Ruthie Shatz have been given no-holds-barred access to the quartet’s work, and as a result offer an unflinching insight into the difficulties the medics face as they cover every aspect of life, from birth to death, while attempting to juggle the demands of their job with their commitments to their families and friends. BBC One, 9.15pm, Saturday

The likes of Bruce Forsyth, Leslie Crowther and many more TV legends have featured in this slot – and few would ever have imagined that lanky former England footballer Peter Crouch (left) would one day be adding his name to that list. But we’re living in strange times at the moment, so here he is, becoming a variety show host. Maya Jama and Alex Horne and his band The Horne Section will also feature, and together they aim to give the British public a taste of some of the major events they’re being forced to miss this summer, with help from celebrity guests.

ITV, 3.10pm, Saturday

Archive action from the tournament, with England taking on the Netherlands at Wembley Stadium, knowing a win for either side would see them top Group A. Terry Venables’ side had already drawn 1-1 against Switzerland and beaten Scotland 2-0 courtesy of Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne’s goals, and were level on points at the top with the Dutch. However, both teams also went into the contest knowing that defeat could open the door for Scotland to snatch a place in the knockout stages at their expense...
