A Mayday call for your help ...
The RNLI is issuing its own Mayday call so its teams can continue their life-saving work in Scarborough and beyond.
The charity is urging people to join in with The Mayday Mile – a sponsored mile of walking, running, swimming, cycling or dancing. Fundraisers can complete their mile any time in May and their sponsorship funds will go towards helping RNLI lifeboat crews and lifeguards keep people safe at the coast. “Through The Mayday Mile, we’re hoping to raise enough funds to keep crews and lifeguards kitted and trained to deal with emergencies – and to come home safe themselves,” said Adam Sheader, volunteer crew member for RNLI Scarborough. “So please answer our Mayday call and help us to get one step closer to the happy, fun, and safe summer which we all deserve this year!”
The money raised through The Mayday Mile will also allow the charity to continue delivering water safety activity for those visiting the coast.
