Aston takes on fourth site after buying chemist
Midway, on Ramshill, sold for undisclosed price
Aston Chemists Ltd has taken over another pharmacy in Scarborough.
The company has bought Midway Pharmacy, on Ramshill Road, a well-established, modern pharmacy dispensing an average of 7,300 items per month.
Midway was part of a group of four businesses trading under the same name, with two in Scarborough and two in West Yorkshire.
The previous owner decided to sell to concentrate on the company’s businesses closer to home in West Yorkshire.
Zafar Iqbal, of Aston Chemists Ltd, said: “We have owned three pharmacies in Scarborough since 2010, having previously traded for over 25 years in Lancashire.
“Midway Pharmacy was adjacent to one of our branches and it made sense to consolidate the two pharmacies under Aston’s while we had the opportunity. Astons are well-established in Scarborough and have five other stores around Lancashire, Warrington and Glossop. We look forward to developing pharmacy services in Scarborough with our new and existing teams.”
Jon Booth, Associate Director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “Midway Pharmacy on Ramshill Road is a strong performing high street pharmacy in a highly prominent location. The buyer’s existing businesses within the town make this a particularly good acquisition for them strategically, and we wish them the greatest of success.”
Midway Pharmacy was sold at an undisclosed price.
