plain sailing for cadets thanks to donation

-

Muston Parish Council has presented Filey Sea Cadets with a donation in memory of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The parish council unanimously agreed that the cadets would be a fitting organisation to receive the donation due to their work with young people and their love of the sea.

Chairman of Muston Parish Council, Cllr Gemma Owen, said: “This is a small token of our appreciation in recognition of the hard work and life skill opportunities the Sea Cadets can offer to young people”

Filey Sea Cadets chairman Nick Ingham said: “We will put this donation towards our fundraising to buy replacement sailing dinghies for our cadets. This project will ensure that the young people of Filey continue to have safe and fun sailing in the bay.” Filey Sea Cadets are currently recruiting young people between the ages of 10 and 17 to join the unit.
