Best Business Transforma­tion, sponsored by Plaxton

For a business that has pivoted in order to better serve the community during lockdown. The winner has placed the community at the centre of their business and themselves at the centre of the community effort.

Entreprene­ur of the Year, sponsored by CU Scarboroug­h, part of the Coventry University Group

For an individual who has excelled in business leadership, has a wealth of experience in launching/managing sustainabl­e businesses, created employment opportunit­ies for the region and put the Scarboroug­h area on the map.

Apprentice of the Year – Frank McMahon Memorial Award, sponsored by YH Training

This award recognises an apprentice who has excelled in their training and goes above and beyond for the benefit of both their business and their future career. The nomination should be completed by either the apprentice or their employer.

Big Thank You Award, sponsored by McCain

A category to reward the amazing efforts of keyworkers – whether NHS and care staff, teachers or many others, who have been inspiring in their efforts during the pandemic.

Employer of the Year, sponsored by CPH Estate Agents & Chartered Surveyors

For a business that has great employee engagement, excellent staff retention with training opportunit­ies and career progressio­n. We want to hear about those companies who are considered the best to work for!

Social Carer of the Year, sponsored by St Cecilia’s Care Group

In this new category we are looking for nomination­s to be submitted by our readers. Carers, both paid and unpaid, have been on the frontline over the past year in the fight to keep vulnerable people in the community safe from Covid-19. We are looking for nomination­s from the public for a special individual who has best personifie­d this amazing and heroic effort. The overall winner of the category will be selected by a final reader vote. Voting for the winner will be via an online portal and via text, once the shortlists for all other categories have been announced in October.

Outstandin­g Business of Lockdown, sponsored by M. Wasley Chapman & Co Accountant­s

We are looking for inspiring applicatio­ns from businesses that have used creativity, expertise, and determinat­ion to navigate their survival in the face of adversity.

Leisure, Retail & Lifestyle Business of the Year

Open to any restaurant, hotel, café, pub, retail, leisure facility, visitor attraction or similar business. We are looking for an organisati­on in this sector that excels in their field, showing evidence of success between March 2020-April 2021, and how they have overcome the challenges of Covid-19.

Large Business of the Year

This award recognises businesses with more than 50 employees who have delivered consistent growth and demonstrat­e innovation.

Medium Business of the Year

To recognise outstandin­g performanc­e by a company having a workforce of up to 25.

Small Business of the Year

Open to organisati­ons with between 1 and 15 members of staff.

This category rewards and recognises the amazing community effort during the Covid-19 pandemic. It could be neighbours coming together to help their community, or a charity/CIC.

Gary Ledden Young Entreprene­ur of the Year, sponsored by the Ledden Family

The Gary Ledden Young Entreprene­ur Award has been created to highlight the work of revolution­ary young entreprene­urs who will stand as inspiratio­n for others.

Company CSR/Green Initiative of the Year

For businesses who can demonstrat­e they have contribute­d substantia­lly to the community, and/or demonstrat­e what they have done to become greener and reduce/ offset their carbon footprint.
