Rock’s Francesca aims to put allcomers in fine voice
Alexa De Strange star opens singing school and also ropes in guitar legend
Rock star and theatre performer Francesca Santamaria is hitting all the right notes in her new music school in Scarborough.
Francesca was brought up in the town and attended theatre classes and appeared in shows at the YMCA in St Thomas Street.
She attended the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and also studied in London.
“I have performed on London’s West End Stage and travelled the world as a performer and a vocal coach for pop and rock stars,” said Francesca, who returned to Scarborough more than three years ago.
She also fronts rock and roll outfit Alexa De Strange.
“I have returned to town to coach both professional singers and people of all ages singing just for fun,” she said.
The Singers Institute is based in Cleveland Road, Scarborough.
“I teach all ages from young children to adults , beginners to professional singers,” said Francesca.
“The school is taking advantage of my connections to famous artists such as Marco Mendoza from Whitesnake/ Thin Lizzy who will be doing a bass guitar clinic this summer at the school,” she said.

The Singers Institute is also presenting an evening with Marco Mendoza at the Vibe, Castle Road, Scarborough. on July 3.
“It is a special one-off performance that contains bass demos, acoustic music, up close and personal with the legend himself,” she said.
A question and answer session with the audience will be interspersed with music from Marco’s long established career.
There will also be an intimate acoustic show at the same venue on July 7.
