Illustrious career began with Dusty
John Sunderland’s design career began in the mid-1970s as a freelance illustrator, animator and art director working in commercial television production.
His anthropomorphic character Dusty Bin was created in 1978 for the popular game show 3-2-1 for Yorkshire Television, hosted by Ted Rogers, which ran for 10 series. Dusty Bin featured both in the programme’s opening titles and as a remote-control life-size version. He also directed the Kenny Everett cartoon film Kremmen The Movie.
