Mind matters more than ever ...
Mental health charity’s week of anti-loneliness activity sessions is part of its 60th anniversary
Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind has launched a fundraising campaign to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
CEO Sophie Hall said: “Over the past 60 years we have supported hundreds of people across our community to live enriched and empowered lives.
“We have helped thousands of individuals with ill mental health, delivered mental health first aid training to organisations, built partnerships with organisations to provide better support and, most importantly, been there for people when they’ve needed us most.
“All whilst educating and raising awareness to anyone that will listen!
“Our work doesn’t stop there, we are committed to carrying on supporting people, by providing vital one-toone personalised support to as many people affected with poor mental health as we possibly can.”
The team has launched a fundraising campaign to help support its day to day work. Aiming to raise £60,000 during the 60th year, the organisation has set up a GoFundMe page.

A key event in the mind calendar is Mental Health Week which runs from May 9-15.
During the week Mind will be hosting a number of activities across the borough.
Speaking on behalf of Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale Mind, Corporate Communications and Fundraising Coordinator Ella Ingram said: ”We are filling the week full of events and activities that the public are welcome to attend.
“The theme this year is loneliness and we hope that everyone in our community can come along and join in.
“We even have some of the local schools getting involved in our campaign to reduce stigma and raise awareness by wearing something blue in honour of SWR Mind.
“We have something for everyone, from coffee mornings in Whitby to Clubbersise in Ryedale and Wellbeing Walks in Scarborough, and much, much more.
“We will also be hosting a Mental Health Awareness Day at Scarborough Town Hall from 10am-3pm on Friday May 13.
“There will be a bake sale, a lucky dip stand, collage workshops, raffles, meet the team stands and much more.
“We are being joined by some brilliant other community-based organisations such as Art Therapy Yorkshire, Living Well, Andy’s Man Club and Raincliffe Woods Community Enterprise.”
