Ladies Under-13s earn league crown

-

Scarborough Ladies Under13s were crowned City of York League champions, with a comprehensive 6-0 victory on the road at Brooklyn.

The Boro girls started nervously, squandering chances, but finally got the breakthrough when Gracie McLoughlin finished well to take a 1-0 lead into the interval.

The second half was a different story with the visitors playing some sublime football to carve the hosts open at will and create chance after chance. Alesha Grime lead the line well with her link up play and was a constant threat.

But it took a strike from Brooke Southern to settle the nerves with a good finish.

Jemima Chapman and McLoughlin then started to dominate in midfield and were constantly feeding the electric Lola Bayes on the right who always posed a threat.

McLoughlin then added a further two to complete her hat-trick, one being a stunning lob from the half way line, Southern then added a second for herself with Grime completing the scoring with a well-deserved goal.

Although Brooklyn did try to rally, the defensive work of, Sienna Williams,Ava Gildroy, Lauren Monkman, Maisie Grenhill and goalkeeper Coral Ashby kept them at bay.

Scarborough Ladies Under-13s will compete in the League Cup final against Brayton Belles on Saturday, May 7, hoping to complete a league and cup double.
