Centurion Dennis the menace as Cayton hammer Flixton 2nds

Cayton continued their fine start to the season with a 249run win at neighbours Folkton & Flixton 2nds in the CPH

Scarboroug­h Beckett Cricket League Premier Division. Skipper Michael Dennis led by example with an astonishin­g 125 from just 54 balls as his side strolled to a big win.

Dennis was a menace to the Flixton attack, hammering 15 fours and seven sixes, with valuable support from opener Jake McAleese (68) and Tom Sixsmith (63) as the visitors racked up an imposing 317-4 from 45 overs.

The hosts then crumbled to 68 all out in just 25 overs, James Ward bagging 4-3 and Stu Pickard 3-35.

Ebberston are tied with Cayton in top spot after their six-wicket win at Bridlingto­n 2nds.

Third-placed Staithes strolled to an eight-wicket win at Scalby thanks to an unbeaten 102 from all-rounder Brad Lewis.

Brett Cunningham had earlier sparkled for the home side with an excellent 80 as Scalby posted 184-6, with cameos from Gregor Fraser (35) and Chris Malthouse (25),

Mulgrave opener Chris Batchelor carried on his amazing start to the season with 139no in his team’s 54-run success at home to Heslerton.

Batchelor and Chris Knight (90no) helped the hosts post 232-0.

Kristian Wilkinson struck an impressive 86 in reply, but despite support from opener Rob Middlewood )(29) and skipper Sam Triffitt (34) the visitors could only reach 1786 in reply,

Brompton eased to an 81run victory at home to Filey.

Neil Fletcher smashed a superb unbeaten 101 from just 66 balls as Brompton posted 2656, hammering six sixes and nine fours.

Mark Bruce also struck a superb 67 and Steve Chapman 38 for the home side, David Brannan taking 3-55

In reply, skipper Brannan top-scored with 63, Dan Baldry hit 37 and Nathan Robson 28, but Filey were pegged back to 184-7, Bruce bagging 3-23 to cap a fine all-round day.

Staxton steamed to a 147run home success against Seamer & Irton.

The hosts’ opener David Morris compiled an outstandin­g 86, fellow opener Ryan Hargreaves falling one short of his half-century and Chris Dove adding 53no as Staxton posted 288-5.

Anthony Jenkinson hammered a defiant 70 as Seamer slumped to 141 all out, Kingsley Gray bagging 4-39.

Sherburn are the early Division One leaders after they defeated visitors Sewerby by 65 runs thanks to a stunning all-round display by Kyle Outhart.

Number three bat Outhart’s 79 steered the home side to 164-7, veteran opener Lee Jack hitting 30 and Calvin Roche the top Sewerby bowler with 4-31.

The visitors then slipped to 99 all out with Outhart bagging four wickets.

Wykeham are second after their eight-wicket success at Ebberston 2nds.

The hosts were limited to

141-8, David Hebron hitting 30, skipper Sam Megginson 29 and George Hardie 25 as fine bowling from Liam Eyre (4-55) and Dave Pearson (3-26) caused Ebberston’s batsmen all sorts of problems.

Captain James Bryant struck a superb 76 to guide Wykeham to victory with 25.1 overs to spare.

Forge Valley won by eight runs in a thriller at Great Habton.

Eric Hall’s explosive 53 from just 27 balls, including three fours and five sixes was the driving force as Valley posted 184-8.

Opener Doug Bentley’s 58 gave Habton the ideal start, but despite late knocks from skipper John Lumley (28) and Liam Allanby (26), the hosts were pegged back to 176-7,

Tim Hunt’s excellent unbeaten 86 steered Thornton Dale to a seven-wicket win at home to Cloughton.

The visitors were dismissed

for 206, Sean Exley hitting 43 and Liam Salt 33, Iain Farrow and Gareth Hunt bagging three wickets apiece.

Tim Hunt’s sparkling 86no from 82 balls was the driving force behind the win for Dale, sharing an unbeaten stand of 123 for the fourth wicket with Adrian Turnbull (29no) to secure the win.

A five-wicket haul from Tom Shrimpton steered Fylingdale­s to an eight-wicket win at Thixendale.

Trafford Newman also weighed in with 3-16 as the hosts were dismissed for 97.

Dales sprinted to a winning 99-2 from just 15.5 overs thanks to 44 from 36 balls by Rob Tucker, allied to Dylan Humble’s 26.

Ganton are the early Division Two pacesetter­s after their four-wicket triumph at Snainton.

The hosts were dismissed for 143 in 44 overs, Paul Nicholson hitting 32 and Michael Kipling

28, with Will Bradley snapping up 4-19.

Mike Eyre took 3-27 to give Ganton a few nervy moments but fine batting from skipper Bradley (48) and 34 apiece from opener Dan Connor and Philip Elliott saw the visitors safely home.

Cayton 2nds won by seven runs in a high-scoring contest at home to Wykeham 2nds.

Simon Glave top-scored with 44, Jake Seastron 37, skipper James Barber 28 and John Crowe 32 as the hosts were all out for 245 from 44.1 overs, George Shannon the top Wykeham bowler with 4-49.

The visitors slipped to 835, but skipper Gareth Bernard (68) and Dan Bateson (36no) gave Wykeham hope only to fall agonisingl­y short on 238-8

Daz Jones, with 3-35, was the top bowler for Cayton.

Mulgrave 2nds bagged a 124-run win at home to Glaisdale.

Rob Golding hit 54 as Mulgrave posted 218-8, Graham Feathersto­ne taking 4-32.

The visitors then collapsed from 52-1 to 94 all out, Alex Burtt top-scoring with 48, Ben Duell the top bowler with 3-13.

Scalby 2nds raced to a ninewicket win at seven-man Settringto­n.

The hosts were all out for 48 in 18 overs, Lee Kerr’s 33no steered Scalby to a winning 501 from 10.5 overs.

Nawton Grange won by 35 runs at Seamer & Irton 2nds.

Nathan Marwood struck 37 for Grange as they made 174-8, Dan Jewitt scooping 4-24.

Openers Matt Pearson (47) and Harley Adams (32) shared a stand of 82, but then the hosts slumped to 139 all out as O’Neill capped a cracking allround show with 4-15.

Grosmont skittled 10-man Muston for just 45 runs as they sealed a rapid 10-wicket Division Three win.

Andy Parker took 3-5 as Muston were dismissed in 24.2 overs, Anthony Clarkson’s 23no steering Grosmont to a winning 46-0 from 15.5 overs.

Wold Newton won by one wicket in a low-scoring thriller at home to Scarboroug­h Rugby Club.

Steve Ward took 4-14 and Toby Robson-Brown 3-22 as the visitors limped to 80-9 from 40 overs.

Opener Dave Southwell (27) gave Newton a strong start, but two wickets apiece for George Elliott, Mark Shippey, Brett Canham and Callum Norris took Rugby Club to the brink of an unlikely win, the last-wicket duo of Connor Avison (3no) and Simon Addison (4no) edging the home side to victory.

Filey 2nds strolled to a 101-run win at home to Great Habton 2nds, while Ravenscar won by 83 runs at Goathland.

Josh Harvey’s 103 from just 82 balls steered Bridlingto­n 3rds to a nine-wicket Division Four win at home to Staxton 2nds.

Craig Hill had earlier struck an excellent 100, sharing an opening stand of 82 with Elliot Cooper (39) and a partnershi­p of 87 for the third wicket with Mark Dove (43) as Staxton posted 194-4, Hill blasting 14 fours and four sixes.

Harvey raced to his terrific ton thanks to seven sixes and 11 fours, putting on an impressive 171 for the first wicket with Ben Leeson (73no in 91 balls).

Brompton 2nds are the early leaders after their seven-wicket success at Scarboroug­h 3rds.

Tony Hulme took 3-26 and Ash Mudd 3-27 as Scarboroug­h were dismissed for 131, opener Ben Crick top-scoring with 27.

An unbeaten half-century fourth-wicket stand between Alex Bennett (26no) and Chris Spenceley (26no) steered Brompton to victory after earlier knocks from openers Robin Siddle (32) and Dan Reardon (21), Paul Melling taking an impressive 3-24 in defeat for the hosts.

Skipper Nick Lock was the key man as Malton & Old Malton 3rds earned a six-wicket triumph at Forge Valley 2nds.

Lock was the top Malton bowler with 4-16 as Valley posted 130-6.

All-rounder Lock then shut down Valley’s bowlers with 52no.

Jish Rewcroft’s excellent 74 steered Ravenscar 2nds to a 61run home Division Five win against 10-man Malton & Old Malton 4ths.

All-rounder Rewcroft dominated the home innings of 169-7, and then Malton were limited to a meagre 108-7, Andrew Mann scoring 33.

Nine-man Thornton Dale 2nds triumphed by six wickets at 10-man Scalby 3rds.

Andy Parsons and John Ellis took three wickets apiece for Dale as the hosts were dismissed for 117.

Jon Cooper’s 63 sealed the win for Dale, with solid support from veteran opener John Kinghorn (29no).

Nawton Grange 2nds saw off visitors Wykeham 3rds by five wickets to snap up top spot.
