The Scarborough News Business Excellence Awards are back this year, and entries are now being taken for the best awards on the Yorkshire coast!

We launched our annual celebration of the local business world last week, and now’s the time to get looking at the awards website. There you will find all the different categories, and how to enter.

Whether your business has two or 200 staff there is an award for you, and the categories cover firms and individuals.

As usual, the awards night will be at Scarborough Spa, on Thursday December 1, a glittering evening that celebrates all that is good about our area’s business community.

And this year we are delighted to welcome a new main sponsor, Happy Futures.

The awards, now in their eighth year, are the premier honours of their type along the coast. Last year’s were the biggest and best yet, with more categories, more entries and the biggest attendance on the night than ever before.

Everything you need to know about the awards is on the awards website – www. scarboroughbusiness awards.co.uk. It includes the categories, how to enter and how to buy tickets.

Make sure you enter in good time; the closing date is October 14 but it might take a little time to prepare your entry. Why not have a look now at the categories you might be interested in.

We welcome entries for the awards from the Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, Bridlington and Ryedale area.

As well as Happy Futures, there are a range of local businesses sponsoring the categories. Here are some:

Kerry Hope, Managing Director of Castle Employment Group, said: “We are proud to be supporting such a great event again. These events are so important for the region as they are helping inspire young people in the community to build confidence and dream big. They also allow the hard work and dedication of people to be recognised.”

Whitby Seafoods: “Whitby Seafoods are proud to be sponsoring the Employer of the Year award. We have all seen and no doubt felt the impact of a turbulent world recently. It is testament to those businesses nominated in this category that they have chosen to maintain a focus on their people to see them through these uncertain times.”

Chris McMahon : “I am sponsoring the Apprentice/ Trainee of the Year award category, as I have done in previous years. This is a personal sponsorship in memory of my late husband Frank McMahon.”

Bridge McFarland LLP:

Bridge McFarland LLP are proud sponsors of the Sustainable Business Award, recognising businesses promoting sustainability and a community focused green approach.

“Business activities can have a great impact on the environment and the local community. We believe that we have a responsibility to identify and manage this impact and reward performance.”

Wasley Chapman & Co Chartered Accountants & Business Advisors: “We’re proud to support the awards which showcase the very best of the region’s unique and diverse businesses.

“It’s great to be part of the prestigious awards, supporting businesses and individuals alike and to see the areas resilience to some of the toughest trading conditions we have ever seen.

“It truly is a fantastic event, which we look forward to supporting for many years to come.”
