CHURCH FETE – The church garden fete held in the grounds of the Manor House recently was well attended. Many people from the village helped to set everything up and organise the duck race.

They were joined by two of our community police officers who were able to talk to the public and provide information, together with stickers and word searches for the children.

This traditional event could not have happened without the Evans family allowing the use of their house and gardens. So far the total stands at £1,757.30 with more to come in. OPEN GARDENS – The next event in Brompton in aid of the church and village hall is the open gardens on Sunday, September 4. Maps price £3 available from the village hall, 12.30-3.30pm, with the gardens closing at 4.30pm.

Cream teas will be served at the west end of the village (or in the village hall if wet), 2-4pm.

This year there are not quite as many gardens but Brompton’s historic church, where the poet William Wordsworth was married, will be decorated and there are some different gardens to see.
