Noble and Bateson run into top form
Scarborough Athletic Club’s Sarah Noble competed in her first ever Ironman Triathlon at Swansea.
The event, which was the first ever Ironman staged in Swansea, commenced with a sea harbour swim of 1,800 metres that was completed in 40.52.
This was followed by a vey hilly56-mileBikesectioncompleted in 3 hours 43 minutes. Theconcludinghalfmarathon was completed in a notable timeof2hours17minutesand thus an overall time of 6 hours 56 minutes.
Daniel Bateson continued his recent run of impressive results at Fell and Trail races when he competed at the annual Borrowdale Fell Race.
This is a classic Lakeland Fell race, that starts and finishes in the Lakeland village of Rostwaite near Keswick.
The course consists of 16.8 miles with 6,562 feet of climb, that includes the summit of Scafell Pike which is the highest peak in England.
Daniel finished 28th overall of 228 and a significant further 27 who were timed out at checkpoints, in 3 hours 34 minutes.
He later said it was his hardest ever fell race with tough climbs, descents, technical terrain, rocks and scree, and was pleased to have achieved a respectable time for this classic race.
Four club members competed in the so called ‘Runfor
All’ 10-kilometre Road Race in Leeds, which attracted around 3,000 runners.
Glyn Hewitt led the club’s quartetafterfinishingin39.25 on what was hot weather conditions during the race. Paul Thompson followed in 44,13.
Jennie Trown clocked
51.34 when heading her sister Dawn Trown who finished in 53.49.
Forty-nine club members competed in the 4th Round of the Club Summer Handicap Series, which was held on a undulating 3.2 miles at Ravenscar.
The first on handicap was Martin Almond who was followed by Angela Jordan and Nikki Edmond

Walls and Sue Haslam were 2nd and 3rd fastest.
Sarah Noble and Duncan Smart took part in the Maesteg Parkrun.
Noble finished 6th female overall of 29. Smart finished 13th of 68 overall and 4th Over-55.
