CAN YOU GET HELP TOWARDS UNIFORM COSTS?

-

Depending on where in the UK you live, you might be able to get up to £300 to help with buying uniform.

Going to www.gov.uk/help-school-clothingcosts is a good place to start to find out whether your family is eligible for a school uniform grant. It has links for those in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and you can search by area.

However, not all of the links in England are up to date, and many councils don’t offer grants. Try searching for ‘school uniform grant’ or see if there’s information in the section about free school meals on your council’s website.

Some schools offer help with costs, so if your council can’t help, try your school instead.

There are also lots of local groups popping up where people can get cheap or even free second-hand uniform, so ask your parents to check any community groups on Facebook.
