The annual Mo Stevenson Memorial Shield event held at Scarborough Rugby Club at the end of last season has raised over £2,000 in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice.

Susan Stephenson, Communications & Marketing Manager, of St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to let you know that the annual Mo Stevenson Memorial Shield event held at Scarborough Rugby Club on Sunday May 1 raised £2,086.91 in aid of Saint Catherine’s.

All the details from the event are on the poster attached and I’ve also provided two photos – one of the cheque presentation and one of Mo Stevenson and Keith Marshall as this event is held in their memory.

Mo’s dad John Stevenson, who organises the event every year, said: “It was a really good and we had two great teams playing against each other.

“We were well attended at the pre-match lunch with Staxton Cricket Club coming along which was nice to see.

“We also raised £2086 for St Catherine’s Hospice which was absolutely great.

“Mo’s Marauders came up against Keith Crusher’s in the main event, with past and current players taking to the field.

“We can’t forget Joe (Marshall) who captained Keith’s team and it was a big moment for him and his family, so this day, allow it started as Mo’s memorial, we do take into account other people’s wishes.

“The Hospice is absolutely delighted with the money raised and we just need to say thanks to everyone for coming along.

“It’s now become an annual event, part of the rugby club calendar, and all credit to people who have got involved in the event.”
