Flamboro’ seal title win and Ravenscar claim promotion

All-rounder Luke Dixon’s 64 not out helped CPH Scarboroug­h Beckett Cricket League Division Three leaders Flamboroug­h race to an eightwicke­t home win against Scarboroug­h RUFC to secure the title.

Dixon’s knock also ensured that he passed the 1,000-run mark for the village club in all competitio­ns this summer.

Dylan Daniels, one of three players on loan from Filey, was the star bowler for the home side with 5-27 in his nine overs as the rugby club were all out for 72 in 33 overs, Rob Hazledine hitting 20 and Tom Harrison 17.

Flamboroug­h skipper Marcos Brown-Garcia also took 2-10 in an accurate nine overs, while there was also a wicket apiece for Dixon, Jack

Carradice-Clarkson and Matt Emmerson.

Dixon then dominated the reply as Boro knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets from just 18 overs. another loanee from Filey, Ben Eblet, adding 9no.

Ravenscar secured promotion as runners-up after their edgy three-wicket win in a low-scoring contest at home to rivals Grosmont.

Farid Purdess took 3-17 and seasoned campaigner Will Warwick 3-29, while teenager Daisy Stokoe bagged 2-4 and Ryan Souter 2-9 as the visitors were skittled for just 60 runs in 22.1 overs.

Arran Liddle’s outstandin­g 5-28 looked to be guiding the visitors to an unlikely win until skipper Shaun Bayes’ 31 not out in just 27 balls steered Ravenscar to the victory which secured their promotion to Division Two.

Muston won by three wickets at Goathland.
