Scalby Folk Week

Workshops and live music each day with proceeds to Martin House, Children's Hospice. Among the acts are the Humanbees, the Woolgatherers and John Drakes.

Scarborough Spa Orchestra 8 Scarborough Spa until Thursday September 15 Morning concerts run from Sundays to Thursdays at 11am, when the orchestra will perform the perfect mix of the very best in light music.
Expect to hear a variety of tunes including songs from the shows, well-known melodies, waltzes, marches, novelty items - all performed within the elegant Sun Court.
Evening orchestra concerts are each Monday and Wednesday in the Grand Concert Hall at 7.45pm, with guest vocalists and special themed gala concerts on Wednesday evenings. With a vast repertoire, every programme is different, with rarely a repeated performance.

Community Choirs
9 Queen Street Central Methodist Hall, Scarborough
An invitation is extended to anyone, regardless of experience, who wants to join either of the two community choirs directed by local musician Bill Scott. The larger and longerestablished Scarborough Community Choir meets weekly on Wednesday from 7 to 9pm at Queen Street Central Methodist Hall, Scarborough YO11 starting September 7 for 10 weeks. Fees are £40 per term. Bill’s smaller Thursday Afternoon Singing Club (TASC) meets weekly on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm at Newby & Scalby Community Hall, Scalby Road, starting September 8 for 10 weeks. Fees are £35 per term.
Both choirs give an endof-term concert, as well as further gigs in church halls, care homes and wherever else they are invited. “The emphasis” said Bill, “is always on fun and maximum participation. Newcomers are always very welcome. Some exciting music is planned for the choir in the forthcoming terms. Variety is the name of the game. Something for everyone.” Fees as above

Wednesdays sees the ‘King of the Keyboards' at the organ playing all your favourite tunes in the Sun Court from 2.30pm. The event is free Howard Beaumont's Coffee Dance is held in the Ocean Room on Thursday for two hours from 10.30am.
