Models represent area at national competitio­n

Two Scarboroug­h women will be competing at Miss British Isles events this upcoming weekend.

Bronwyn Curtis, of Newby, will be participat­ing in the Miss Teen British Isles on Sunday September 10 while Maria Beckwith, of Ravenscar, will be competing in Classic Miss British Isles.

This will be Miss Curtis’ second modelling pageant.

Miss Curtis, who works at the Core Fitness gym on Westboroug­h, said: “I have always wanted to be a model and I was asked to apply for Miss Teen British Isles.

“I am looking forward to representi­ng North Yorkshire, I feel that I'm not just representi­ng North Yorkshire I'm also representi­ng Scarboroug­h.”

Miss Curtis will be sponsored by Hearts and Crafts piercing studios and Precious Little Things, both located on Bar Street.

She will also be sponsored by Purple Pup cafe, on Eastboroug­h.

Maria Beckwith has been selected to participat­e in the National Final of the Classic Miss British Isles 2022, after winning Classic Miss North Yorkshire this year.

Miss Beckwith, who works at Raven Hall Hotel in Ravenscar, said: “It’s an opportunit­y of a lifetime. I am competing against gorgeous women across the British Isles.

“I am so excited and can’t wait! It has always been my wish to be on the catwalk and it’s finally come true.

“It’s a dream come true! Whatever happens on the final, I am truly grateful for the opportunit­y and will remember it for life.”

Miss Beckwith has volunteere­d for charities in fundraisin­g events. This year she has just completed 100 squats a day for 30 days and plank for three minutes a day for 30 days supporting Cancer Research Charity.

Miss Beckwith is passionate about helping women to raise awareness about online dating and has featured on BBC1’s ‘For Love or Money’ documentar­y, providing advice and awareness on how to be careful when dating online.

Miss British Isles is a series of modelling competitio­ns for women in Britain.

Miss Teen British Isles is for young women aged between 16 and 19, and Miss Classic British Isles is for women aged 45 and above.

The National Finals take place from Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11 at The Crown Plaza Hotel in Chester.
