Queen’s faith guided her through life

- Jean Donovan, Vicarage Close, Seamer

There has been a huge outpouring of sadness this week over the death of our dear Queen Elizabeth.

With the grief has been much thankfulness for a sacrificial life, well lived as she served others.

We know that she became Queen while she was a young wife and mother with two young children, and she took on this huge responsibility with the help of The Duke of Edinburgh.

We have often heard her words as she asked for her people’s support in prayer and for God’s help: “I declare before you all that my whole

life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service….”

We have seen in her Christmas messages that it has been her faith in Jesus and God and the reading of the Bible that has sustained her throughout her life and with the many difficulties and challenges she has encountered on the way.

We now pray for King Charles as he takes on this responsibility and Camilla, Queen Consort, as she supports him.

Many of our local churches are open this week for people to pray and light a candle or just sit in quiet meditation and thank God for her as she has gone to meet her Saviour and King in heaven.

You are always welcome to join us at Sunday services at St Martin’s Church, Seamer.
