Sky-high thrills!

-

The Filey Kite Festival returned for its second-ever event at the weekend, ahead of the Queen’s state funeral.

Scores of professional kite flyers from across the United Kingdom attended the twoday festival, which took place at Filey Brigg Country Park.

Colourful creations and large kites filled the skies above the Filey coast, including Oscar – the largest teddy bear-shaped kite in the world.

It was staged by Scarborough Borough Council in association with the Northern Kite Group.

The event attracted dozens of the UK’s best kite flyers, displaying a wide variety of weird and wonderful kites over the Yorkshire coast skies.

There were also children’s fairground rides and refreshments, although many people took picnics.

Although there were plenty of skilled fliers, children also got the chance to fly kites.
