More cost for council tax payers

Thank you for highlighting we would pay more council tax should the vote to form a parish council be positive (Letters, September 1). The information brochure from North Yorkshire County Council reveals this in 11 words on page six, of seven.
No information has been offered to voters on the expected amount of additional council tax.
I do note, the charter trustees can choose not to levy a precept for year two onwards. What’s the betting we pay a precept every year?
To state that any increase is insignificant in relation to council tax as a whole is naïve and, at this point in time, callous. Household finances are in a bad enough state. Why would anyone vote to pay more council tax?
I hope that people who respond to the consultation to form a parish council send the message they don’t want to pay more council tax, although, I suspect the decision has already been made.
