The Valley and Goal Sports secure Beckett League wins

-

Second-placed side The Valley continued their strong start to life in newitts.com Beckett Football League Division Two with a 3-1 home win against third-placed Sinnington.

Luke Balderson scored for the Sinners but the hosts were worthy winners thanks to second-half goals scored by Taylor Plant, Freddie Schmuck, and Rich Tolliday.

In midweek, Sinnington claimed a 2-0 success at Heslerton thanks to goals scored by Jon Mitchell and Luke Clemmitt.

Tom Peel’s double failed to save Heslerton from a 5-2 loss to Wombleton on Saturday.

Rillington Rovers entertained Goal Sports, and the visitors took the lead with an Alfie Hutchinson goal.

Martin Crick equalised but a second Hutchinson goal in the second half sealed victory for the visitors, who finished with 10 men when Josh Welburn was sent off in the 88th minute.

Goldsborough United lead the way in the division after a 3-2 home win against Amotherby & Swinton Reserves.

Goldsborough took an early lead, as a throw from Aidan Duell was picked up by Damon Craig, whose crossshot found the top corner of the net.

United missed several chances to extend their lead but then the home side lost possession in midfield and it presented Matthew Lock with a chance, the striker hitting across Kieran Purvis and into the bottom corner to level.

Then a long throw was flicked on for a tap in at the back post to give Lock his second .

This didn’t knock the wind out of the hosts’ sails however and on 40 minutes they pulled level.

A great ball from Purvis found Luca Clasper in space, and he beat his man before putting in a delicious ball for Craig to tap home his second.

George Sault found space on the right and his cross was palmed away by the keeper but fell to Craig again who had to adjust well before completing his hat-trick.

Duncombe Park Reserves claimed a 4-2 win at Whitby Fishermen’s Society Academy.

James King, Tyler Wood, Henry Birkett and Harry King netted for Park, Lewis Coultas hitting a penalty for the hosts, with Jack Kelly the Fishermen’s star man.
