Staff and volunteers will be out and about in the Scarboroug­h area during the coming weeks, visiting the places you go to find out what is important to you.

Here are a few of the places you can find us:

• Filey Library, 1.30pm to 4pm, September 29.

• Scarboroug­h Library, 10am to noon, October 5.

To ensure Scarboroug­h residents have a strong say in decision-making at the most local level, they are being asked their views on the creation of a town council for their area.

Parts of Scarboroug­h and Harrogate are the only major towns in North Yorkshire not to have a parish or town council. On April 1 next year, North Yorkshire County Council, Scarboroug­h Borough Council and the county’s six

• Drop-in at Derwent Valley Bridge Library, Ayton, 10.30am to 12.30pm, October 18.

• Newby and Scalby Library, 1pm to 3pm, October 24.

• Scarboroug­h Library 3pm to 5.30pm, November 9.

Many more events are planned. Check the full list at www.northyorks.gov.uk/LetsTalkNY other district councils, will be replaced by a new North Yorkshire Council.

A central pledge in the case for this change was “double devolution”. This will enable town and parish councils to take on greater responsibi­lities, if they want to.

Residents of unparished parts of Scarboroug­h are invited to give their views on creating a council for their town. Eastfield Town Council boundaries are also being reviewed.
