1 Scarborough Jazz Club The Cask, Ramshill, Scarborough, Wednesday October 5. Doors open at 7.45pm Scarborough Jazz club welcomes back saxophonist Rod Mason, who will play a mix of standards, modern jazz classics and funk aided by the MG3 plus Adrian on percussion. The evening’s opening set is by The Landing. This marks the debut of a new young jazz outfit including BBC Young Composer of the Year winner Theo Kendall and friends. 2 Warming the Pot Gallery 6, Victoria Road, Scarborough, until September 30. Open from 11am to 4pm A group of work by a diverse range of artists and makers using their talents, skills and imagination as well as their brushes, kilns and knitting and embroidery needles. The exhibition includes linoprints, oil paintings, knitting, embroidery, ceramics and recycled guitar strings.
Whatever the medium, the theme is tea. Includes tea cosies, teabags, tea and biscuits, tea and cakes, tea breaks and teatime. Among the artists taking part are Lebbertstonbased Shirley Vauvelle and Scarborough-based Adam King and Lindsay Tyson. Entry is free
3 Family Album Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, until Saturday October 1 The curtain has gone up on the world premiere of Alan Ayckbourn’s 87th play. Elizabeth Boag, Georgia Burnell, Tanya-Loretta Dee, Antony Eden and Frances Marshall are directed by the author in the play which chronicles the trials, tribulations and temptations of three generations of one family across 70 years in the same home.

4 Chaos – a site specific Installation by London sculptor Paul Bonomini Old Parcels Office, Scarborough Railway Station, from Saturday October 1 to Sunday October 30 Chaos is Paul Bonomini’s most ambitious installation to date. The gleaming giant steel sculpture hangs in mid-air like a threatening cloud. The sound of heavy rain, crashing waves, and ticking clocks bring to mind the encroaching chaos caused by climate change.
