Chairman David improves at Great Bristol Half Marathon

Scarboroug­h Athletic Club Chairman David Field joined a reported 15,000 runners at the Great Bristol Half Marathon and associated 10K Road Races.

He finished up in 1,125th and his time of 1.43.30 was over two minutes faster than his time at the York Brass Monkey Half-Marathon this year.

Darren and Sarah Marshall both competed in the T is sing ton Trail Half-marathon, which runs on the disused railway line from Ashburn to Buckton in Derbyshire.

The point-to-point route is similar to the Whitby to Scarboroug­h’s disused railway track, as it is slightly downhill all the way. It is also unusual as the event is split into separate half-marathons on the Saturday and Sunday to enable as many as possible to take part.

Darren took advantage of the conditions when finishing 3rd Over-60 in 1.46.04. Sarah ran well to head 96 females in 2.23.06

Ten club members took part in the latest North Yorkshire Water Park Parkrun.

Robert Preston finished first overall of 171 with a PB. He also set a course PB for 3034 men of 18.06

Sarah Noble led the club’s females when finishing 5th of 71 overall.

Other female results: K. Wills 3 rd O 35, S. Hough ton 1 st O 65.

Eight club members took part in the Sewer by Park run.

Maurice Bates finished first for the club 17th overall of 207 and 1st Over-70 and with a PB, his sixth such over the past six months.

Pauline Elliott led the club’s females after finishing 27 th of 91 overall and 2 nd O 40.

Neil Sc rut on was the club’ s only runner at the Cinder Track Whitby Parkrun.

He finished in 15th overall of 76, and retained the Over -75 course record.

Club Chai man David Field warmed up for the next day’s Great Bristol Marathon when taking part in the Eastville Bristol Parkrun.

He finished 75th overall of 385 and 4th Over-55. He was accompanie­d by Shirley Field who was 74th overall and 5th Over-60.
