ONE SMALL STEP FOR MANN
NICOLE Mann has become the first indigenous American woman in space, after a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched a crew of astronauts into orbit.
The crew journeying to the International Space Station (ISS) also includes an astronaut from Japan, one from Russia, and the spaceship’s American pilot, Josh Cassada.
Mann is the mission commander and NASA’s first female indigenous astronaut. She’s also a colonel in the US Marines, where she’s been a test pilot and also flew several dozen combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
