CHURCH SERVICES – Following the installati­on of the Rev Canon Chris Coates as vicar of Cloughton, the normal pattern of services will be as follows: first and second Sundays 10.30am Holy Communion; third Sunday 10am BCP Communion and 10.30am Cafe Refresh; fourth Sunday 10.30am Morning Worship; fifth Sunday combined service of the Northern Group. BOWLS CLUB – Burniston & Cloughton Bowling Club starts its indoor short mat season today, Thursday, October 20, 2pm, at Burniston Village Hall.

Following sessions are on Saturday, October 22, 10am, then every Thursday and Saturday at the same times, please arrive a quarter of an hour earlier for a prompt start. Cost £2 per session includes tea/coffee etc, and the heating will be on if you need a warm up.

Games are purely social, no leagues or competitio­ns involved. We have a membership fee of £20 for any non-members of the club who wish to join after a few trial sessions. Flat shoes recommende­d for bowling. Everyone welcome, ample free parking at the hall. CHAIR EXERCISES – Chairbased exercise class on Mondays at Burniston and Cloughton Village Hall from 11am. Classes £5, but first one is free.

Cayton

METHODIST CHURCH – The service on Sunday was led by local preacher Mrs Patricia Henney and included the blessing of the shoeboxes and donations for HOPE. The welcomer was Jane Williams, the steward Margaret Welsh and the organist Jane Allen. Readings were given by Jim Baird and Christine Feather and flowers for the church were provided by Margaret Welsh.

After the service refreshmen­ts were served by Julie Barber and Jane Allen.

This Sunday the service at 10.30am will be led by local preacher Michael Earnshaw and all are welcome. COFFEE & WARM SPACE – The church is an area of warm space to enjoy a cuppa and a chat. All are invited to come along for warmth and fellowship every Monday from 10am until 12 noon.

If anyone needs a private chat with a minister this can be arranged. COMMITTEE MEETING – The next meeting of the Jubilee Hall Management Committee will be held on Friday, October 28, 10.30am, in the committee room at Jubilee Hall. Residents are most welcome to attend.
