Heslerton celebrate heroic win at home

-

It was a wet and wild afternoon for Heslerton U13s Heroes when they played host to the visiting Sleights team last weekend.

The first half was even and very well contested but it was the Heroes who scored the only goal of the half and after some great work from Keane Welburn, he found Anderson Hahn at the near post to break the deadlock.

The second half proved to be a similar story and both teams battled hard to gain dominance.

However, Heslerton were a lot better on the resumption and goals from Ollie Wilson, Charlie Driver and a penalty from Archie Pilmoor sealed the victory against a hugely improved Sleights team.

The player of the game award went to Charlie Ellis for a fantastic solid performance in the heart of defence.

Heslerton U16s will count themselves hugely unlucky not to have taken all three points from their game in Selby, where they took on an unbeaten Thorpe United.

Heslerton were arguably the better team but were unfortunate to find themselves a goal down midway through the second half.

However, a change in formation proved crucial and the visitors drew level when Jake Allardice latched onto a Corey Wiles through ball and burst into the box before hitting a screamer into the top corner from a tight angle.

Heslerton went close to claiming all three points, with a Charlie Silk free kick thumping the crossbar and Allardice, unmarked six yards out, unable to connect with his headed attempt.

Ben Flint in the Heslerton goal made a fine save to keep the scores level and Allardice got the man of the match vote.
