Where to find help this winter
With winter on the way, it is time to look out for our neighbours, friends and family. This could be getting together for a cup of tea; making sure they have accessed any financial help, or checking on their wellbeing.
People can also approach community support organisations, which have information on projects and support and can signpost people to other help. Community support organisations can be found at www. northyorks.gov.uk/info/ community-supportorganisations
The county council has details on its website of where people can find help or advice on anything from energy bills to childcare support, food projects or housing costs. Visit www. northyorks.gov.uk/costliving-support
Some community spaces are looking to extend their opening hours and activities to provide a warm, inviting venue over winter. The county council is encouraging community venues which have the resources to offer help to register on the website www.warmwelcome.uk You will also get a warm welcome in our libraries.
If you have problems with issues like mobility speak to your community support organisation, which might be able to signpost you to help.
