Townsend on target for Athletic

Scarborough Athletic Under16s played host to Beverley Town in the JPL League last weekend.

In a very entertaining game with some good football from both sides it was Scarborough who dominated the first half with plenty of chances created, but with the home side not managing to put any of them away.

The deadlock was broken early in the second half by Scarborough, with Jack Townsend superbly finishing from the edge of the box into the bottom corner leaving the Beverley Town goalkeeper with no chance of saving it.

But in the final stages, the game became more end to end as Beverley threw bodies forward, finally getting an equaliser, the final result being 1-1.
