Plans scrapped again
J Large, Shire Croft, Scarborough
Over the years I have read in The Scarborough
News headlines of new developments in Scarborough.
Whatever happened to the Zenith project for the North Bay or the cinema proposed again at the North Bay?
And with the planet getting warmer in the coming years and the hot summer we have had this year, the North Bay outdoor swimming pool needed, more so now, was destroyed years ago by Scarborough Council, they should have kept it.
Just last year at the Brunswick Centre in the centre of town there was talk about a new cinema in the former Debenhams store area.
Plans were also afoot to develop the building where the Argos store once stood at the lower end of town.
On the South Bay a new development was proposed for the former Futurist
site, nothing has come of it. Scarborough lost a jewel in the crown when the Futurist was demolished.
And the site planned for a new hotel on the former site of the North Bay indoor pool has now been scrapped. What next?
Until I see the builders, cranes, diggers and people in hard hats and hi-viz jackets actually doing something, it's all wind and waff and I'll take the proposals with a pinch of salt.
