Westway Boxing Club's lightweight Kieran Glave fought against Adam Mahamied (Pound 4 Pound Boxing Club, Birmingham) in a top-class boxing show at the Conference Suite in West Bromwich.

The bout was the last on the 17-fight bill, topping off a show which was attended by Floyd Mayweather Senior and saw top-class items sold for thousands in an auction, and it certainly lived up to the billing.

Twenty-three-year-old Glave kept his smaller opponent on the jab in the first round, and the second round saw the duo swap punches, Glave returning whatever Mahamied threw at him.

The final round saw the Birmingham boxer come out strongly but Glave replied with big backhands and the two were given a standing ovation at the end by the 800-strong crowd.

Mahamied was awarded the win, but Westway Boxing Club’s coach George Rhodes Senior felt that his boxer Glave had done enough to edge it.

Rhodes Senior said: "They announced afterwards that the Birmingham lad who won was turning professional.

"Both boxers put in a magnificent performance

but I think that Kieran should have been awarded the win."

Fifteen-year-old Westway boxer Zak Wood took on Jake Bower in a show at his home club Henry's Gym in York.

Wood started strongly in the first round, and in the second round he piled in and Bower was given a standing count.

The final round saw Wood weigh in with some explosive shots as he got on top and the bell saved the home boxer as the Scarborough lad secured the unanimous victory.

Middleweight Cameron Stone, 19, took on Lewis Dickins (RR26, Sheffield) in a show at the Owlerton Event Centre in Sheffield.

Both lads exchanged good shots early on in the first round which was very evenly-contested, and there was not much between them in the second round.

Debutant Stone opened up in the third round and hit Dickins, who fights from Ryan Rhodes’ gym, with some good combinations to gain the split decision win from the judges, capping a great first fight for the Flixton teenager.
