Ayton see off Kader in County Cup clash

Ayton claimed a superb 3-2 win against North Riding League Premier Division high-flyers Kader in the North Riding CFA County Cup.

Ayton could only muster a squad of 13 players for this cup clash, and lost keeper Joe Wright after just 20 minutes with Alex Glass coming on, he put in a great display.

Eric Hall, the Ayton man of the match, scored all three goals, and skipper Ian Laing was outstandin­g at the centre of defence.

Second division Sinnington entertaine­d Amotherby & Swinton in the Gordon Harrison Memorial Triophy, the game ended in a 3-3 draw, Amotherby winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2.

Sinnington’s scorers were Luke Balderson (2) and Jon Mitchell, with Oliver Towse (2) and Matthew Bean the Amotherby marksmen, the latter winning the shoot-out.

Man of the Match winners were Joe Johnson (Sinnington) and Bean (Amotherby).

First division Kirkbymoor­side Reserves had a 3-2 home win against second division Goldsborou­gh.

Damon Craig and Mike Coates netted for United, who lost out to an 87th-minute Kirkby penalty. won 4-3 at

The Fishermen took the lead with an own goal but the visitors equalised instantly through a Curt Dickinson header. Fishermen ace Jay Jordan scored a fine goal to make it 2-1 at the break.

Wombleton equalised through Josh Tateson, but Fishermen netted a third through Lewis Coultas.

Wanderers winger Luke Quantock equalised for a third time and midfielder Paul Cook scored a 25-yarder, winning the cup-tie.
