St Mark’s Church, Newby, is hosting a Christmas fair on Saturday, November 26, 2-4pm.

A good opportunit­y to buy gifts and have them wrapped for you ready for Christmas. TABLE TOP SALE – Table top sales will run every Sunday until the end of February excluding Christmas and New Year at Newby and Scalby Community Hall, Scalby Road. Doors open 10.30am1pm, admission 50p, free to kids.

Includes bric-a-brac, crafts, health and wellbeing, antiques and more.

January and February, contact 07551 674542. COFFEE MORNING – A coffee morning will be held at Scalby Methodist Church on Saturday, December 3, to raise funds for The Samaritans.

Coffee and mince pies will be served 10-11.30am and there will be a cake stall and book stall. Admission will be by donation to The Samaritans. All welcome. WI MEETING – The next meeting of Scalby and Newby WI is at the Friends Meeting House, Woodlands Drive, on Monday, November 28, 7pm, when the speaker and demonstrat­or will be Claire Jackson, beauty therapist, on health and wellbeing. There will also be a stall of Christmas crafts.

SCALBY WIVES – Scalby Wives enjoyed a fascinatin­g and interestin­g talk by Cllr Reg Towse of Scalby and Newby Town Council and Helen King, Head of Hub and Community Support Services.

The group’s next speaker is Iain Sleighthom­e who will be telling hilarious Yorkshire tales on Monday, November 28.

ST MARK’S CHURCH – St Mark’s Church, Newby, holds a community drop in with coffee and cake every Wednesday, 2-4pm.

Toddler and Baby Group, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1011.30am, term time. Cost is £2 per family/carer/childminde­r and includes fresh fruit, activities and hot drink for adults.
