Goal Attack Powell shines as Powercats see off Barons

-

Powercats overpowered Barons to claim a 39-20 win in the latest round of Scarborough Ladies Netball League matches.

The Powercats set the tempo from the start of the match, moving the ball fast and furiously into the D to the shooters.

Powercats’ shooting duo Cat Stilton and Maxine Powell shot from distance and with ease to take the lead in the first quarter 12-1.

Barons found it difficult to match the pace and get into their rhythm from the off.

Following the 11-goal lead Powercats made in the first quarter, going into the second, Barons made some positional changes.

Barons started to work together, marking more closely and moving with more purpose.

Powercats maintained their fast pace game and were able to continue their control of the match.

Both teams were more evenly matched, scoring five goals to seven in favour of Powercats and finishing the quarter 19-6.

The game continued with Powercats dominating, although the final two quarters scores were separated by six goals, Barons were unable to make up the strong lead that

Powercats had created with the game finally finishing 3920 to Powercats.

Both teams GA’s Demelza Triffitt (Barons) and Powell (Powercats), had standout performances earning well deserved players of the match.

MARTIAL ARTS – Scarborough and Locals Together (SALT) are pleased to have helped young Scarborough girl Jocelyn Dixon who was on top medal-winning form while representing England at the World Kickboxing Championships in Hungary in October.

Jocelyn won a gold, silver and bronze medal at the World Championships and getting her there wouldn't have been possible without help from various sources.

As kickboxing is an amateur sport it has to be selffunded so SALT's donation of £250 helped with kit/training and flights.

Jocelyn was also helped by Treasured Memory Makers, who donated £750 and The Rotary Cavaliers, who donated £100.

Nine-year-old Jocelyn has been kickboxing for four years, and won a silver medal at the British Championships earlier this year.
