A local sporting club for people with a disability has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Bowls ‘n’ Buggies is a bowls club for people with a disability which meets every Saturday, from 10am to 12noon, at the Scarborough Indoor Bowls Centre, and is a registered charity.

The club was formed in 1991 by Mike Roberts and a group of helpers and people with a disability.

The club has grown in membership since its formation, especially during the past few years, and enables people with a disability to enjoy participating in sport every week.

The slightly delayed Bowls ‘n’ Buggies 30-year Anniversary celebrations took place on Saturday November 12 2022 with a Fun Bowls session, buffet and Annual General

Meeting.

The activities and meeting enabled everyone to celebrate their achievements of bowling, to thank helpers who come along every week, to show gratitude to community supporters who have provided grants, to welcome new members and also to invite new committee members.

Anyone with a disability interested in joining can come along on a Saturday morning to come and try bowls.

Bowls ‘n’ Buggies won the 2018 Scarborough & District Sports Council Sports Award of ‘Top Community Sports Club’ category and recently one of the bowlers was voted as the Top Disability Sports Person.
