Brit star Josh off to flying start
Nine-year-old trials star Josh Tate has hit top gear in a youth national championship despite having only taken up the sport two years ago.
TheScarborough&District Motor Club finished second in the 2022 ACU British youth nationaltrialschampionship,but has only been riding competitivemotorsportsfor18months.
In that short time the Rudston-based youngster has alreadywonseveralawardsand championshipsonthelocaltrials biking scene.
Proud mum Nicola Tate said: “Josh was bought an electric Oset trials bike for his seventh birthday and he then joined the Scarborough and District Motor Club.
"Due to the Covid-19 pandemic he was unable to ride at the Harwood Dale-based club so he rode his bike in the back garden instead.
“When the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted he took part in his first competitive event in April 2021.
"In his first year he won the following: Scarborough Youth D championship, Scarborough Youth Summer series, East Yorkshire Centre championship and Oset Cup North Youth D intermediate.
"This year he has taken part in the Oset Cup North elite and won that competition as well.
“He has also won the Scarborough Youth D Championship title again and competed in the Youth British National trials and came second overall in the championship. Josh also won the East Yorkshire Centre championshipandclaimedthe Scarborough & District Motor ClubPresidentsawardfor2022.
"WearesoproudofallJosh’s achievements, especially in such a short time since starting in trials.
"Michael Brown Racing is now sponsoring Josh, but his grandad Neil Tate has also helpedusgreatlyfromthestart.
