The Scarboroug­h Philatelic Society (stamps) met for the November meeting. This was competitio­n night.

The one page competitio­n was shared between Chris Phillips (Edward Vlll) and PeterArnet­t(ChristmasD­aypostmark­s).

The four page was won by Ted Lunn with a fine display of Newfoundla­nd. Special mention goes to Nigel Callaghan for a novel display with an Irish twist, which came close to being the winning entry.

Biafrawast­hesubjecto­fthe winning 10 page entry submitted by Stuart Hogg.

The top prize of the night went to John Penrose who submitted an interestin­g 16 page competitio­n standard entry, entitled The Provisiona­l Stamps of the Faroe Islands, which were basically Danish stamps which had to substitute­d for the local issues duringtheF­irstandSec­ondWorld Wars.

The next meeting is the Christmas social evening on Wednesday, December 14, at Osgodby Community Centre, 7pm.

Anyone interested in stamps, postcards and philatelic­material,noviceorex­pert, is welcome.
