Sherlocks and Heather Small on way to the Spa
More acts – including Heather Small and the Sherlocks – have been added to the music programme at Scarborough Spa. Heather is well known for being the former lead vocalist of the band M People whose hits include Moving On Up, One Night In Heaven and Search For The Hero.
Heather became one of the seminal British voices of the 1990s, with the band winning the Best British Dance Act Award at the Brits in 1994 and 1995, as well as the Mercury Music Prize for Elegant Slumming.
She’s achieved worldwide success as a solo artist too with two solo albums – the title track of her Proud album which has gone on to become the soundtrack to a whole host of events.
Heather will be at the Spa on Sunday, October 6.
Over recent years, The Sherlocks have become one of the most exciting alternative-indie live bands in the UK.
Selling out tours across the UK and Europe, the band have also achieved chart success with three top 20 albums, most recently World I Understand, Live for the Moment and Under you Sky.
They are known for their electrifying gigs packed full of hit singles such as Live for The Moment, Magic Man, Will You Be There? and Chasing Shadows.
The band consists of Yorkshire brothers Kiaran and Brandon Cook joined up with Alex Procter and Trent Jackson.
With an incredibly passionate loyal fan base, their fans have followed the band's journey from the pubs/clubs to selling our venues out all across the world as well as being asked to tour in arenas/stadiums with the likes of Liam Gallagher, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs and many more. The Sherlocks will be heading to Scarborough Spa on Thursday, June 6.
Following the universal acclaim for the award-winning musical based on his songs, Standing At The Sky’s Edge, which opened earlier this month for a six-month run in London’s West End, Richard Hawley has revealed he is going on tour.
It brings him to the Spa on Thursday, June 20.
His latest song release is Two For His Heels – a sparse, atmospheric and cinematic song about a deal that goes wrong.
It is the opening track on Hawley’s forthcoming album In This City They Call You Love, which will be released on May 31.
It features 12 outstanding songs, many of which can be described as “vintage Hawley” and are amongst some of the finest ballads he’s ever written and recorded.
Speaking about the new material, Richard Hawley said: “I’ve made three albums where I had the title before I'd even begun to record, where I had an agenda. One was Truelove’s Gutter.
"Another was Standing At The Sky's Edge when I wanted to turn everything up and make the music a lot more aggressive, and then this one. I wanted it to be multi-coloured in a way… focusing on the voice and what voices can do together… I deliberately only played a handful of guitar solos to keep it focused on voices, the song and space.”
Tickets for all events at the Spa are on sale now.
