1 Fusion
Gallery 6, Victoria Road, Scarborough, until April 27.Gallery is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 11am to 3pm
The multimedia exhibition showcases the work of artist CLAIRE. It is a mix of her natural ink paintings and sculptures.
She has made her own inks from foraged plants and berries including hawthorne, blackberries, sloe and rhododendrons. ”I spent the first lock down walking round fields, foraging and experimenting with inks,” she said. “I have never done anything like this before. Once I started I couldn’t stop.” Scarborough-based CLAIRE has always combined her short story writing skills with sculptures – some of which were inspired by a bag of dolls clothes she bought from a charity shop. ”The sculptures were away of getting a lot of stories out quickly,” she said.
All the work is for sale.
Entry to the gallery is free
2 Scarborough Jazz Club
The Cask, Ramshill, Wednesday, April 24
Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes for the first time as guest soloist saxophonist Murray Robinson – well known to club audiences having played the very first New Jazz Generation slot and as a recurring guest since.
In his second year at Leeds Conservatoire, he is influenced by the Japanese jazz culture and how they fuse its own traditional sound with jazz to create something different.
His influences also include saxophone giants such as Eric Alexander, Joel Frahm and Patrick Bartley. Murray plans to play mostly standards but with some arrangements by the players he admires. He will be backed by MG3.
