Jupiter Bioblitz!, Scottish Wildlife Trust Jupiter Reserve, Grangemout­h, July 14. Join members of Inner Forth Landscape Initiative (IFLI) and friends to discover the reserve’s wildlife.

St Ronan’s Border Games Week and Cleikum Ceremonies, Innerleith­en, July 14-21. Instituted in 1827, these games are the oldest organised sports meeting in Scotland and are now part of a 10-day festival that incorporat­es events for every age group.

Hebridean Celtic Festival, Stornoway, July 18-21. Deacon Blue and The Fratellis headline this weekend of music-making.

National Bowling Championsh­ips, Northfield, Ayr, July 23-28.

The cream of Scotland’s lawn bowlers will compete at the National Centre of Bowling. Langholm Common Riding, July 27. Mounted procession­s and spectacula­r uphill gallop followed by horse racing, athletic games, Highland dancing and wrestling. Butefest, July 27-29. Line-up includes Dougie Maclean and Banshee mixed with food, drink and family fun. 
