Choose from white-knuckle whitewater canoeing down any one of 37 rivers listed in the Scottish Canoe Association guidebook to open water paddling along coasts as far as Arisaig. The Fort William area offers big, high-flowing rivers and creeks through magnificent scenery that gives you that adrenalin rush. Companies like Rockhopper Sea Kayaking and Active Highs offer two-hour, half-day or full-day trips up the Great Glen or further afield to Glenuig and Loch Ailort. Added attraction to these outings can be possible sightings of seals, porpoises or, if you’re really lucky, sea eagles.
