Big Country

-

When Stuart Adamson took his own life in Honolulu in 2001, it was widely assumed that cries of In A Big Country would never again fill Scotland’s auditoriums. Then, in 2007, Big Country’s Bruce Watson and Mark Brezicki resurrected the group – and the band’s fans have been singing along ever since.

“We didn’t think it was going to last – but we never thought Big Country would last the first time around, either,” laughs Bruce, whose favourite memories of the original Big Country include appearing in Live Aid, supporting Queen at Freddie Mercury’s last gig and, of course, Stuart Adamson.

“Stuart had a wicked sense of humour,” says Bruce. “We always had a right laugh together.”

The band recently toured Australia and New Zealand and is currently playing gigs across the UK and Europe.

“Being on tour at 57 is rather different to when you’re young,” Bruce admits. “My head and my heart absolutely love it but my body sometimes goes into shutdown!”
